Leading into this event with a last-minute change of venue, the JustSeventy team had to adapt, problem solve and overcome a number of challenges to create an outstanding and immersive awards night for our client, Vue and their 450 employees and suppliers.
An annual event for this group, 2019 was their 16th awards night. The guestlist was predominantly made up of managers and the senior team from Head Office. This branded corporate event saw a gentle nod to Mary Poppins, a current and relevant reference, which sparked a design comprising a fully themed space and stage set, complete with costumed dancers and performers, and hosted by Claudia Winkleman.
As guests arrived for the reception, they were led down the old streets of Mary Poppins’ London, making their way to the Ballroom for dinner. Once all the guests had arrived, the dinner could commence. The room décor was a focal point for the guests: the JustSeventy team had designed a colourful umbrella ceiling installation with some of them even on a rotating mechanism, for a particularly mesmerising effect.
Served by staff in themed uniforms, the guests enjoyed the visual treats of an exquisitely designed skyline. In addition to the spectacular set, the Captain’s rooftop had been cleverly recreated and even allowed the CEO to enter into it and fire a confetti canon – a take on the well-known scene from Mary Poppins.
The awards ceremony, a very special occasion for the whole company, was captured by a skilled camera team and offered a rewarding and joyful experience for all, watching the successes of individual colleagues and the company as a whole.
Finally, the only way to complete the celebrations was with a hidden nightclub. This provided a real “surprise and delight” moment for the guests and was the perfect reveal to an evening that had allowed them to let their hair down and enjoy the special celebration.
5 days before the event, the initial venue was forced to withdraw their space from hosting the event due to a structural issue. JustSeventy re-worked the plans and schedule and liaised with all suppliers, successfully transplanting the whole event to the Intercontinental Park Lane. The CEO was hugely grateful for our expertise, quick thinking and determination to ensure a smooth event delivery.
