Like so many things in life, the intrigue and discovery are what makes the moment so special. This client wanted a 40th birthday party like no other and wanted so much of the evening to be about surprise and illusion.
Having a party at home allows you to create your own private members club, a space where anything goes and creative design sees no boundaries. Providing full marquee management and design, the JustSeventy team created a dark, creatively lit club with a central circular bar, food stations and seating. There was however a link to the house so that guests could be taken on a magical mystery tour down to the cellar.
Well-rehearsed, authentic and convincing walkabout actors played the parts of CIA operatives to take guests down in small groups to the cellar. Perplexed yet intrigued by this novel approach, the guests arrived and found themselves facing Alexis Conran from BBC’s The Real Hustle. His world-renowned sleight of hand and acting skills were a surprise treat for all guests to enjoy. Bamboozled by how he would ‘hustle’ them, Alexis kept things moving so that guests could each come down and enjoy for a short time before looping back up to the main party.
Although already loving the main marquee, guests had no idea that the real party was yet to take place. The JustSeventy team had been busy creating a secret nightclub, positioned over the clients’ swimming pool. What a revelation! Sequinned shark and skull sculptures, a black glossy dance floor and a mirror ball DJ booth were all just contributing design features to a fabulously fun and sophisticated space.
A talented DJ and musicians from ALR kept the party going, while a vodka luge took the fun to new levels. The journey on which the guests were taken and the never-ending surprises ensured the success of an incredible 40th birthday, a party never to be forgotten!
