Hamptons HEAVEN

Known for its designer boutiques, high-end restaurants and idyllic seaside spots, Long Island’s Hamptons is an unsurprisingly popular summer destination for affluent New Yorkers, and those from further afield.  Although the long stretches of beach were a little tricky to bring over, the JustSeventy team worked on some fresh creative concepts to bring a Hamptons village, or downtown shopping area, to London’s Mayfair.

A year in the making, this Batmitzvah was always set to be something never seen before on the London party scenes. Known for its humungous yet luxurious spaces, the famous Grosvenor House on Park Lane was the perfect spot for such a special occasion to take place. It was decided that the Ballroom would be transformed into a Hamptons street party with functional bespoke shops and all the upscale elegance of this Long Island destination.

Using the well-known seasonal pop-ups and designer boutiques as a model, shops built in the room included Nike Town for the batmizvah girl’s older brother, a record shop for her father, and a salon for her mother. The main salon was built to allow youngsters to mill in and out all evening long, with hair technicians for braiding, face painters, Swifty bracelets and much more, all set out with proper salon chairs and fittings.

All shop fronts followed the distinctive aesthetic of the famous East Hampton Ralph Lauren store. With this, watercolour drawings were included on to the set designs around the room which included special representations of this family’s life, such as their dog. Elevating the team’s designs even further, the florists installed trailing ivy around the whole room, dotted with pink roses to give that summer feel, whatever the weather outside.

Ready for the event to start, the sizeable LED screen had been dressed with foliage, all rehearsals had taken place and everyone was in position. There were so many intricate layers within the event, alongside the catering and music that would be expected as a minimum. A professional presenter, Alex Gray, was brought in to push the immersive Hamptons theme and pull many of the elements together. While the boutiques were welcoming guests throughout the evening, the showband Muzika led the music for most of the evening with DJ Tony Perry adding another level in their set breaks and beyond.

Whether the roaming polaroids, the big bespoke bar or the glamorous dancers, there was so much to take in and to do. This was most definitely not a typical dinner-dance batmitzvah and truly one to remember. Without the need to travel ‘across the pond’ this was a gateway, for one night only, into the desirable destination of the Hamptons, where they could enjoy the boutiques, a delicious meal and party hard.

Unsurprisingly, the guests were in no hurry to leave, and were soaking up every last second of this end-of-summer soirée in the Hamptons before stepping back out into Park Lane’s hustle and bustle.
