An eternal favourite, oozing glamour and good times… the fabulous JustSeventy client or the ever-wonderful Claridge’s?

A milestone birthday, following months of lockdowns, required some serious celebration. With a theme of the roaring 1920s, Claridge’s Art Deco event spaces were the only spots suitable for this party to take place.

Entertainment, details and more details were key things in the planning agenda. The client is well-known in her circles for noticing and taking pride in adding the smallest elements which collectively create the full picture. The table décor, including floral design from world-renowned florist Rob Van Helden, ensured an exquisitely dressed ballroom for all to enjoy. Perhaps the pièce de résistence in the design was creating the first ever cantilevered DJ booth in the famous Claridge’s ballroom. ALR Music’s DJ Charles may have had to brave the step ladder ascent but he certainly had the best view in the house!

The birthday girl wanted her guests to be blown away with sparkling cabaret entertainment. Created for one night only, routines from an array of performers and showgirls kept all the guests wowed. To incorporate a favourite song into the evening, the Lola Showgirls choreographed a surprise routine to Sia – Chandelier, even donning the signature blonde wigs and leotards, blowing the roof off with both the guests’ reactions and the pyrotechnics!

In addition to the energetic cabaret performances, top-notch music was a strict requirement from the client. The Soul Jets, one of the talented groups on ALR Music’s extensive roster and a JustSeventy favourite, were the perfect fit.

Although she had carefully considered every element of her party, the client was unaware that her husband would be creating a bespoke video for her. Taking one of her favourite songs, Freedom by George Michael, Gavsy Media captured her friends and family singing it with an adaptation of some lyrics. A phenomenal gift for her to receive from her loved ones, the cheers could have been heard from all over Mayfair!

With the Soul Jets keeping the dance floor full and Claridge’s bar team orchestrating a Jaeger bomb train, helped along by the topless male vodka shot waiters, the guests really had been transported to the most lavish roaring 20’s party. There is even rumour of an after-party which took place in the hotel bar until the early hours. From 1920 to 2021, cheers to no more prohibition!
